Abstract

The long history of the Pentecostal movement has positioned church leaders as highly significant figures, both in terms of their functions and their institutional positions. This centrality of leadership has subsequently generated a number of dilemmas: some leaders may perceive themselves as irreplaceable, assume that they will remain capable of ministering until death, or believe that the ministry should be passed on to their immediate family upon their death. This study seeks to examine strategies for leadership regeneration in church ministry, particularly their implementation within Pentecostal churches, through the lens of Proverbs 4:1–4. Employing a narrative qualitative approach in combination with phenomenology, supported by a literature review, this study aims to provide a rigorous, systematic, and in-depth account of the narrative of church leadership. It explores the essential nature and characteristics of church leadership regeneration, examines Proverbs 4 in relation to leadership regeneration, and formulates strategies for implementing leadership regeneration within the Pentecostal church context. The study concludes that effective leadership regeneration in Pentecostal settings should be implemented through strategic succession planning, systematic training, mentoring, and continuous evaluation of prospective leaders.
